<image:title>Your Team - Rosemarie Sanche Registered Physiotherapist (BHKin, MPT, CAFCI, GIMS) Rosemarie’s earliest memory of running was about age 12 with her brother along the prairie roads in Alberta. Running is still her first love when it comes to activities, for the exercise and the love of the discovery along the trail (berries, creeks, sacred trees, fungi, wildflowers, wild weather and skies). She is awed by the beauty of this island. While attending UBC for her Master of Physical Therapy, she would run the trails to the lookout towards Vancouver Island, visualizing her new life and career on the Island. This vision was realized in 2010 upon graduation. Prior to her Physical Therapy degree, she had graduated in 2006 with a Bachelor of Human Kinetics at UBC. Rosemarie worked as a personal trainer and it was her curiosity of her clients with complex medical conditions that led her to a career and passion for physiotherapy. A varied life of travel, boating BC’s west coast, an early insurance career with other life sandwiched in there, informs her compassionate curiosity of each individual she meets. The most important element of Rosemarie’s clinical practice is the relationships that she builds with her patients. Each patient needs to be heard, as their injury or issue is unique to them. The path to reach their goals is different for each patient. Treatment provided by Rosemarie is made for the individual, guided by her skills and knowledge. She strives for a patient-oriented, holistic, compassionate and collaborative practice. Rosemarie is a lifelong learner. The areas that have been the foundation of her practice are movement / exercise, orthopedic manual skills, anatomical acupuncture and pelvic health for men and women. Pain education and management is a guiding principle. She is also trained in Vestibular Rehabilitation, CranioSacral therapy, VisceroFascial mobilization, MyoFascial Release (JFB), IMS, and Hypopressives. Pelvic health physiotherapy became a passion for Rosemarie when she took her first Pelvic Health Solutions course in early 2011. She has obtained training and experience in treating women and men with incontinence, pelvic pain, and a variety of pelvic floor dysfunctions, including pregnancy-related issues, diastasis rectus abdominis, pelvic organ prolapse, including pessary fitting, gastro-intestinal disorders, and mobilization of the visceral-fascia urinary system. She is also trans gender-informed. Rosemarie wants postpartum women in all phases of life to return to the activities that bring them joy or develop a passion for a new physical expression in a healthy, successful fashion. Male pelvic health has been a regular component of Rosemarie’s practice since 2011. Her male patients have been her best educators, and she continues to expand her knowledge of, through course work, and ongoing self education. Outside of the clinic, Rosemarie not only enjoys trail running, but also kayaking, hiking, cycling…and fresh local produce!</image:title>

<image:caption>Dan Schmit Registered Massage Therapist Dan comes from a competitive cycling background as far back as 1991 and has been practicing as an RMT since 2004. His patients generally come from various activities such as hiking, tennis, golf, weightlifting, while the majority have backgrounds in cycling, skiing, running and swimming. This has led to Dan developing his treatment style around maximizing performance, injury prevention and rehabilitation. His approach can be aggressive to make the most of treatment sessions and he limits his treatments to only a few specific areas to maximize results. His manual skills are slow and deep, yet always to his patient’s tolerance. Dan’s deep involvement in many different sports over the years, has given him an understanding of what athletes, of any ability, go through in their sport. He recognizes his patients desire to get back to their activities quickly. When Dan is not working, he can be found on a bike (road, gravel or MTB), kitesurfing or skiing.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Kate Pearsall Registered Physiotherapist Kate completed her Master of Physical Therapy degree at the University of British Columbia. During the degree she received the Evert Boxtart Memorial Award for completion of clinical education with distinction and community involvement. Prior to this she received her Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology at Simon Fraser University where she was also a member of the Women’s NCAA varsity soccer team. Kate’s desire to become a physiotherapist stemmed from her own personal experience with injuries while participating in a variety of sports. She was able to experience the positive impact that physiotherapy could have and learned the importance of taking a full body and individualized approach to care. This led Kate to pursue training in the Integrated Systems Model (ISM) with Diane Lee. This approach takes a regional interdependence framework that aims to consider the relationships between different regions of the body to help determine the most meaningful place to start treatment. Kate has completed post-graduate training in orthopaedics where she will continue to pursue her Advanced Diploma of Manual and Manipulative therapy. She obtained her Dry Needling (IMS) and training in Matt & Reformer Pilates. Additionally, she has completed pelvic floor physiotherapy training (Level 1 & 2) through Pelvic Health Solution with additional courses in Cesarian & Diastasis Rectus Abdominis (DRA) rehabilitation. Outside of the clinic, Kate can be found on the move – hiking, biking, skiing or running – and is excited to be living and recreating in the Comox Valley.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Danielle Lapointe Registered Physiotherapist Danielle is a Registered Physiotherapist with over 23 years of experience and a lifelong passion for human anatomy and movement. Her journey began at the University of Victoria, where a serendipitous human anatomy course sparked her fascination with the musculoskeletal system. After completing a Bachelor of Science in Biology in 1996 and spending a few years travelling, she earned her Bachelor of Science in Physiotherapy from the University of British Columbia in 2002. Her post-grad training and clinical interests are very diverse, which has given Danielle a wide lens perspective through which to assess and treat people. Her absolute favorite areas to treat are complex pelvic and low back dysfunction, pelvic pain (including coccyx, sexual, menstrual, peri-menopausal, and pregnancy-related pain), incontinence, and constipation. Danielle also has a special interest in upper cervical (neck) dysfunction and headaches and is currently completing a research-based Master’s degree (University of Otago) focused on ligamentous assessment of the upper neck. Her passion to learn and be curious influences her style of treatment which is very hands-on and education focussed, always asking “why?”, and working on big picture treatment and prevention. Danielle has worked extensively in rural and remote communities, including 12 years running her own private practice in Gold River, BC and the past decade practicing in Gisborne, New Zealand. She is a licensed Physiotherapist in Canada, New Zealand, and Australia. Outside the clinic, she enjoys travelling, yoga, hiking, mountain biking, gardening, eating dark chocolate, and planning her next adventure.
